Application for Exchange Students

The Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg uses an online application for our exchange students. Note that you must be nominated by your home university before you can apply to us.
To access the on-line form, please use the link to the right. The link to the application is active 6-8 weeks prior to the deadline which is always May15th for autumn semester and November 15th for spring semester.

Application instructions
Step 1:

Create a user account. Fill in all required fields carefully. Spelling errors in for example the e-mail address may delay the process, so do be thorough! The application can be saved and you can make changes at a later stage if necessary.
In the mandatory field "Accommodation - Have you applied for housing through ESS?"  Write Yes or No.
For students coming for shorter time than 1 semester for example clinical rotations, please contact the international coordinator for instructions on how to apply for housing.
Step 2:
After all the data has been submitted, the application form will be made available as a PDF document. Print this document and ask your International coordinator responsible for your faculty/programme to sign and stamp it.
Send your application together with the following documents:

  • Transcript of records containing all your courses and grades so far
  • A motivation letter – why do you want to study at the Sahlgrenska Academy and what are your main interests.
  • CV containing relevant jobs, research, lab hours etc
  • 1 passport sized picture

We cannot process your application without the signature and stamp from your coordinator. After your application has been registered by us, you will receive information from the International Coordinator at The Sahlgrenska Academy regarding admission.
